Our events

Open Geneva is a non-profit association whose mission is to promote and stimulate open innovation in Greater Geneva by bringing together a community of 2500 innovators, bringing their ideas to life, communicating their projects and supporting their development.

The association promotes hackathonsthese These are moments of collective intelligence lasting a few dozen hours, the aim of which is to develop practical solutions to concrete problems. During hackathons, participants with different expertise and cultures meet and work together to tackle challenges on a given theme. In an informal but intense environment, participants benefit from hackathons to create social links, learn and contribute collectively and take pride in doing, innovating and succeeding together!

Since its creation, Open Geneva has organised or co-organised numerous hackathons on various topics (e.g. sustainable finance, integration of refugees in the labour market, smart city, sport) with public and private organisations in the Greater Geneva area.

To animate the large community of innovators and communicate on innovative projects, Open Geneva also organises innovation events such as conferences, panels, meetups and workshops to encourage the sharing of best practices on the subject of open innovation. Today, Open Geneva is recognized as a major player in the innovation ecosystem of Greater Geneva!

Open Geneva goes beyond our borders!

SDG Open Hack! is an initiative born in 2019 from a unique partnership between the universities of Geneva and Tsinghua, UNITAR and Open Geneva.

This global initiative aims to train 100,000 students and professionals by 2025, through their active participation in online conferences, innovation bootcamps and hackathons focused on the practical development of concrete technical, social and institutional innovations for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Depending on the circumstances, bootcamps and hackathons can take place online or in physical locations.

Between 2020 and 2022, Open Geneva is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation to develop "SDG Open Hack!

SDG Open Hack! Tsinghua

SDG Open Hack! Tsinghua started as China's first open innovation festival for the achievement of the SDGs. It was directly inspired by the Open Geneva Festival.

SDG Open Hack! Tsinghua hosted 500 participants in 2019, including students, engineers, professionals, academics, policy makers, investors who tackled key SDG-related challenges during a weekend of hackathons on the Tsinghua University campus in Beijing.

SDG Open Hack! Singapore

On 28-29 May, the 2nd edition of the ``SDG Open HacK! Singapore" will take place in Singapore "From Ideas to Sustainable Impact", in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Open Geneva, the University of Geneva, Singapore universities and corporate partners.

SDG Open Hack! Laos

A new SDG Open Hack! hackathon was held in May 2022 in Laos, addressing the theme of "Inclusiveness and Disabilities", organized by the State University Law Students Association.

SDG Open Hack! Bangkok

A SDG Open Hack! hackathon was held in July 2022 in Bangkok, on the theme of "Digital Solutions for the Wellness of Elders and People with Disabilities", organized by Asian Institute of Technologies.

SDG Open Hack! Bali

The last SDG Open Hack! hackathon took place at the end of July 2022 in Bali on the theme of "Waste management", organized in collaboration with Jimbaran Hub and Meaningful Design Group.
