Interview de Christina Lee, Founder & CEO, Global Green Connect & GGEF, Singapore

What was your first contact with Open Geneva?

My name is Christina Lee, Founder & CEO of Global Green Connect & GGEF. GGEF is a purpose-driven social enterprise, we empower youth and women in sustainability. GGEF brought SDG Open Hack to Singapore. We worked with Open Geneva, UNITAR and University of Geneva to launch the inaugural SDG Open Hack Singapore in 2021. First time I came across Open Geneva was when I joined SDG Open Hack in Tsinghua University in 2019, I participated in the final judging panel.

What were your institutional and/or personal motivations to start your collaboration with Open Geneva?

The solutions came out from participated students motivated me to bring this experiential learning to students in other part of Asia. I believe this is an essential learning for our future leaders to ensure we could build a sustainable future together.

In which way did the collaboration with Open Geneva allow you to develop your own SDG Open Hack?

Open Geneva provided us with bootcamp speakers, digital platform which is sparkboard and guidance as we crafted out the programme for Singapore.

Tell us a success story from your SDG Open Hack! Singapore

GGEF in partnership with Open Geneva, UNITAR and University of Geneva and 6 other universities in Singapore launched the SDG Open Hack Singapore virtually during covid pandemic in 2021 successfully.

We gathered the participants from both SDG Open Hack SG in August when we met in person, I heard some of the students sing their praises of how different SDG Open Hack SG was and how much they’d learned and benefited from this experiential learning.

The participated students from the previous year came back to the mentors for SDG Open Hack 2022. Their sharing of experience helped to reinforce the importance of SDG among themselves and motivated this year’s participants. There’s no better way to generate innovative ideas to solve problems and nurture the next generation with the force for good.
